Computer Repair and Maintenance
Computer repair and maintenance information.
When it comes to repairing computers the top two items that seem to fail most are
power supplies and hard drives. Following closely would be other devices such as
System Boards, CD/DVD Drives, CPU fans & Case Fans, etc.... Even with new
computers it’s been our experience that 1 out of 20 new computers are defective in
some way right out of the box.
One of the enemies of modern computers is heat. The newer Pentium 4
processors create lots of heat. If the PC case is in an enclosed space such as a
desk cabinet heat can build up and damage the processor. Over a period of time
dust and dirt builds up inside the case. It’s amazing how much dust can build up in
a short period. This dust clogs up the fins on the heatsink and can damage the
processor or cause a PC to become sluggish or cause system freezes. Dust also
builds up in the power supply and on the system board. We recommend a regular
cleaning every six months using a proper cleaning method. Care should be taken
not to introduce an electromagnetic discharge into any components when cleaning.
The best defense is always a good offense. If a PC is important to your business
or daily activities regular hardware checkups should be performed. Computer
manufactures often include a diagnostics disk that can check your hard drive and
other components. Therefore you can fix a problem before valuable data is lost.
We also have other utilities that can check your computer for potential problems
and tune for optimum performance.
